Five Checks Before You Reorder Thermal Paper for Your Locations or Customers

Thermal receipt paper rolls from NPOS Solutions

A receipt roll gets no attention until it fails: a jam in the middle of a rush, a faded receipt on a return, or a roll that does not fit the printer. When you buy for many printers, stores or customers, those failures multiply.

At NPOS Solutions, we supply thermal paper to POS dealers, distributors, restaurant groups, grocery stores and other businesses that buy by the case and by the pallet.

These five checks help every order load, print and arrive as expected.

Check 1: Does Each Roll Match the Printers You Supply?

Width, roll diameter and core size decide fit. Printer manuals list all three. We stock the sizes most receipt printers and card terminals use:

•     3 1/8 x 230: the most common size for full-size countertop receipt printers, including many Epson, Star Micronics, Bixolon, Citizen and Clover models.

•     3 1/8 x 273: a longer roll for high-volume lanes, where the printer accepts a larger diameter.

•     3 1/8 x 220: for countertop printers with a smaller paper compartment.

•     2 1/4 x 85: the standard size for many countertop credit card terminals, including Casio, Epson, First Data, Ingenico and Verifone models.

•     2 1/4 x 74: for terminals with smaller paper compartments.

•     2 1/4 x 50: for mobile and handheld POS printers, including many Verifone Omni and Citizen models.

Need a width, length or core you do not see? We source custom sizes through our manufacturing partners.

If you are not sure which size a printer takes, send us the make and model and our team will confirm it before you order.

Check 2: Does the Roll Length Match Each Location's Volume?

Length decides how many receipts one roll prints. A 230-foot roll holds 2,760 inches of paper, about 460 receipts of 6 inches each. A 273-foot roll holds 3,276 inches, about 546 receipts at the same length.

For a group of locations, estimate monthly use: receipts per day x average receipt length x days open, divided by the roll length in inches. Add the locations together and divide by 50 to get cases per month.

That number tells you whether to order by the case as needed or by the pallet with scheduled deliveries.

Check 3: Is the Paper Specified in Writing?

When you supply other people's businesses, the specification matters as much as the price. Our thermal paper is BPA-free, eco-friendly and made to ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.

Phenol-free options are available on request. Our 3 1/8 x 230, 2 1/4 x 85 and 2 1/4 x 50 rolls are rated for five-year image life, so receipts kept for returns, warranties or tax records stay readable when stored away from heat and light.

Ask us for a specification sheet for any size. Distributors and dealers often need one for their own customers, and chains use it to set a single standard across every location.

Check 4: Do the Supply Terms Fit the Way You Buy?

Running out of paper stops sales, so supply terms matter as much as the roll.

Here is how buying works at NPOS Solutions:

•     Single cases: order anytime from our online store, with free shipping storewide.

•     Volume pricing on the total order: your price is set by the total number of cases in the order, in any mix of paper, labels and ribbons, not by the quantity of each item.

•     Pallet pricing: orders of 63 cases or more qualify for pallet pricing, and mixed pallets are welcome.

•     Houston-area delivery: delivered pricing across the Houston metro area, including Galveston County.

•     Nationwide pallets: nationwide pallet pricing includes standard freight to a commercial address with a loading dock in the contiguous U.S.

•     Multi-location accounts: delivery to each store with one account manager for the group.

•     Resellers: blind drop-shipping to your customers is available on request, and tax-exempt purchasing with a valid resale certificate.

•     Payment terms: pay by credit card, or by check on Net 30 terms for approved accounts.

Check 5: Who Helps You Choose and Reorder?

Some buyers know every printer model they support. Others manage a mix of equipment across many sites.

Either way, one person handles your account. Our customers describe our team as knowledgeable and reliable:

"In the five years we've been buying from them, we've never run out of stock. It's wonderful to have found a reliable supplier that helped us become more productive and efficient." Luisa, Chula's Sports Bar & Cantina

For a new size or a new printer model, start with a sample case and test print darkness, feed and the tear edge before ordering in volume.

FAQs

What width of receipt paper does my printer need?

Check the paper width in the printer manual. Full-size countertop printers usually take 3 1/8 inch rolls, and most card terminals take 2 1/4 inch rolls. Send us the make and model and we will confirm the right roll.

How long do printed receipts stay readable?

Our 3 1/8 x 230, 2 1/4 x 85 and 2 1/4 x 50 rolls are rated for five-year image life. Heat, sunlight and harsh chemicals shorten that span, so store printed receipts in a cool, dark, dry place.

Is your thermal paper BPA-free?

Yes. Our thermal paper is BPA-free and made to ISO 9001:2015 quality standards. Phenol-free options are available on request, and specification sheets are available for every size.

Do you sell thermal paper in bulk?

Yes. We sell by the case and by the pallet. Pricing is based on the total cases in your order, and orders of 63 cases or more qualify for pallet pricing. Mixed pallets of paper, labels and ribbons are welcome.

Do you work with distributors and resellers?

Yes. Dealers, distributors and payment processors buy from us at wholesale pricing. Blind drop-shipping is available on request, and resellers with a valid resale certificate can buy tax-exempt.

Can you deliver to several locations?

Yes. Multi-location businesses can schedule deliveries to each store, with one account manager for the whole group.
